Part 3:

The Bath

  1. ★Must-have:  comb + scissors, shampoo

  2. ★Must-do:  trim nails, clean ears

  3. ★Nice:  flea comb, rake, pin brush, slicker

  4. ★Rec:  blow-dryer + grooming table

  1. ★Comb weekly, at least.

  2. ★Remove any matting

  3. ★Blower removes loose hair

  4. ★Inspect skin for sores, parasites

  1. ★Clean down to the skin

  2. ★Rinse completely

  3. ★Karla’s 1/2 hp submersible sump pump and hose **

  4. ★cotton balls keep water out of ear canals

  1. ★Dry completely or risk “hot spots”

  2. ★Approximately 1 hour to blow-dry

  3. ★Blow-dryers cost $100-300, or more

  4. ★Grooming table:  don’t leave dog unattended (the noose is one danger)

  5. ★Dryer:  Circuiteer K-9 II

** Be ever mindful that the submersible sump pump is an electric device and water conducts electricity.  So we very strongly advise taking appropriate precautions, such as using a  "Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter” (GFCI) plug - which is common in modern bathrooms.  Also check the cord before every use to ensure that it is not frayed or otherwise damaged in such a way that could render it unsafe.  And, of course, carefully read the instructions provided by the sump pump manufacturer.
